Additional Information about Geranium × cantabrigiense 'Karmina'

Geranium is derived from the Greek geranós, meaning crane. The common name, cranesbill, derives from the shape of the fruit capsule that appears in some of the species.

A sterile hybrid geranium created in 1974 by Dr. Helen Kiefer at the Cambridge University Botanic Garden in England. It was developed by crossing G. macrorrhizum (female parent) with G. dalmaticum (male parent). This low-growing plant spreads via trailing stems, forming a dense foliage carpet that reaches 8-12 inches tall and spreads 18 inches or more.

Its aromatic, deeply cut, seven-lobed, glossy light green leaves (up to 3.5 inches wide) are semi-evergreen. From late spring into early or mid-summer, it produces long-lasting, sterile white to pink flowers (about 1 inch wide), with occasional reblooming into fall.
